สถาบันนโยบายสาธารณะ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ร่วมมือกับ Development Planning Unit จาก University College London ในการศึกษาวิจัยเพื่อวางแผนการพัฒนาพื้นที่ 6 ย่านสำคัญ
ไม่ว่าจะเป็นพื้นที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์จากย่านวัดอุโมงค์ถึงดอยสุเทพ พื้นที่เศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ ย่านช้างม่อย พื้นที่พหุวัฒนธรรม ย่านวัดเกต พื้นที่ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ย่านวัวลาย พื้นที่ริมคลองแม่ข่า และพื้นที่เรียบถนนเส้นยางนา
ทั้งนี้ ได้รับเกียรติจากผู้บริหารและเจ้าหน้าทึ่เทศบาลนครเชียงใหม่ ตัวแทนจากองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัด (อบจ) ตัวแทนสำนักงานทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมจังหวัด (ทสจ) ตัวแทนจากสถาบันพัฒนาองค์กรชุมชน (พอช) คณาจารย์จากคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ คณะการสื่อสารมวลชน และคณะมนุษยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ผู้บริหารสถาบันการศึกษาหลายแห่ง เครือข่ายภาคประชาสังคม เขียว สวย หอม สภาลมหายใจ และสมาคมยางนา-ขี้เหล็กสยาม ใจบ้าน สตูดิโอ รวมถึงตัวแทนชุมชน ในการเข้าร่วมรับฟังผลการศึกษา รวมถึงให้มุมมองเพิ่มเติมทั้งผ่านบอร์ดแสดงความเห็นและการนำเสนอในเวทีอภิปราย
อนึ่ง หลายข้อเสนอสามารถนำไปสู่การขับเคลื่อนต่อกับพื้นที่ได้เลย โดยภาคีจะอาศัยกลไก CMU Policy Lab ในการสร้างการเปลี่ยนแปลงจริงต่อไป

The School of Public Policy, Chiang Mai University, has collaborated with the Development Planning Unit at University College London on a research project to support planning for the development of the sacred area from Wat Umong to Doi Suthep, the creative economy area of Chang Moi, the multicultural area of Wat Ket, the local wisdom area of Wualai, the Mae Kha Canal area, and the area along the Yang Na road.

We were honoured to welcome executives and officers from Chiang Mai Municipality, representatives from the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organisation, the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Community Organisations Development Institute. We also welcomed faculty members from the Faculties of Architecture, Mass Communication, and Humanities at Chiang Mai University, executives from several educational institutions, civil society networks, and community leaders. All joined us in listening to the research findings and in offering reflections through interactive boards and presentations during the discussion forum.

Importantly, many of the policy ideas can be taken forward in the respective areas. The CMU Policy Lab will be used as a platform for further dialogue, collaboration, and meaningful development in the city.
