Belt & Road Initiative 2019 Opened at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai

Associate Professor Rome Chiranukrom, Vice President of Chiang Mai University delivered a welcome remarks to the honorable guests and participants at the opening ceremony of the international conference "Belt & Road Initiative and Lancang – Mekong Cooperation: “Shared Future for Sustainable Connectivity” hosted by Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai Province during September 6-7, 2019.

The conference initiated and co-organized  by Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Mai University and the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Chiang Mai is a platform to encourage experts, researchers, scholars and staff from government and non-government agencies from Thailand and China, to reflect upon their relationship regarding the impacts of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative in the Greater Mekong Sub-region.  The objectives of the conference are to exchange knowledge and understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative and its impacts on Thailand, as well as regionally and globally; to discuss and identify potential research topics and collaboration among concerned agencies; and to create a network between Thailand and China’s researchers, scholars and business sectors.
