Established in 2003 under the name “Research Administration Center Establishment Project,” its mission was to drive one of the university’s core missions—research. Through the operations of the Research Administration Center, research at Chiang Mai University has been effectively supported and promoted to achieve its defined goals and research strategies. As a result, Chiang Mai University has become ranked third in the country in terms of research and innovation output. To enhance the efficiency of research promotion, support, and development, the university upgraded the Research Administration Center to the Office of Research Administration, according to the Chiang Mai University Regulations on University Administration B.E. 2562 (2019), effective from October 1, 2019. This office is tasked with promoting, overseeing, and coordinating research and innovation, intellectual property and technology transfer, sourcing research funding, and enhancing the research capabilities of personnel. It also undertakes other research-related duties as assigned. Vision To serve as an effective administrative unit providing professional services and support in research management. Mission To deliver professional services and support in research administration by utilizing systematic tools and databases. The office also functions as a consultant for research administration across university units, aiming to ensure the achievement of institutional objectives in research development.
