Chiang Mai University Measures In Response to the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)


As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has spread widely both within the country and abroad, the Ministry of Public Health has proclaimed it to be a dangerous contagious disease. The staggering number of people infected has raised concerns for Chiang Mai University regarding its staff and student safety and in response to this has declared the following preventive measures to minimize the outbreak on campus as follows;

Preparatory Measures:
1. Establish a Committee on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Preparedness, and appoint the President of Chiang Mai University as the Chairman of the Committee
2. Establish an Emergency Operating Center (EOC)
3. Prepare an action plan for an emergency situation in support of Chiang Mai University personnel who have in person contact/close-contact with infected COVID-19 patients

Response Measures During the Crisis
1. Develop preventive measures and acknowledgement
2. Provide medical support led by Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital
3. Provide online learning methods and resources to all sectors
4. Provide safe housing for students in need of accommodation on campus, with the highest preventive measures in place to limit the spread of COVID-19
5. Cancel or postpone all student activities as well as closing the central stadium and gymnasium
6. Strictly enforce preventive measures against COVID-19 across the campus
7. Strictly follow the Social Distancing Policy

Economic Impact Alleviation Measures
1. Students who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis can delay or pay their tuition fees by installments from the summer semester 2020 onwards.
2. Provide discounted rent for all business owners within Chiang Mai University.
