Faculty of Architecture Students awarded 3rd Prize for their Bamboo Design

CMU’s student team, Faculty of Architecture, led by Assistant Professor Karn Khamkaew and Mr. Poom Subpaiboonkit, Lecturer, Faculty of Architecture, have been awarded the 3rd prize at the “Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay and ASEAN International College and Universities Construction Competition and Forum & Tianhua Bamboo Design and Construction 2018” at Guangzhou Nansha Bird Park, Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China on December 8, 2018. The 10 student team consisted of Mr. Stayu Seankum, Mr. Chanawee Saiyudhtong, Mr. Nattawat Kumkong, Mr. Pongsathorn Gnern-gnam, Mr.Kiattisak Wongchaiya, Mr. Pratchakorn Wantha, Mr. Suthangkul Karbkum, Ms. Pitchabhorn Keereekeaw, Ms. Ubonbhorn Manasiripen and Mr. Sippakorn Sornpingkum. Their design named “Arun – naree” was inspired by a “Swaying Feather” or when a feather is touched by a breeze and presented contemporary Thai wisdom by using bamboo material fastened together without nails or knots. This bamboo construction method is used in northern Thailand and it allows for a structure to be moved easily and conveniently.
