Language Institute Chiang Mai University Discusses Academic Collaboration with Okayama University, Japan
15 January 2026
Language Institute
On 15 January 2026, Language Institute's team , led by Assistant Professor Sakorn Ruanklai, Director of Language Institute, together with Mr. Karim Ali Hussain, General Manager, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Yuchi Oda, Director of the International Center, and his team at Okayama University, Okayama City, Japan.
The purpose of this meeting was to promote the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme, which is a collaboration between Language Institute Chiang Mai University and University of Wollongong College (UOWC), Australia. Upon completion of the programme, students receive certificates jointly issued by UOW College and Language Institute Chiang Mai University, both of which are internationally recognised. The programme also includes IELTS preparation training. These certificates can be used to strengthen students’ portfolios, enhancing their credibility when applying for further studies or employment. In addition, both institutions discussed further avenues for academic collaboration, particularly the development of a student exchange programme, which is planned for implementation in the future.
