A Ph.D. Student in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Science has achieved national recognition after securing the second runner-up award at the 13th Research to Market competition (R2M#13). Held on February 21, 2026 at the Regional Science Park, South, the competition featured 22 teams from across the country, with Chiang Mai University delegates led by BUILDS CMU.
The project, titled ‘Development of a Surface SPCE-Based Immunosensor for the Detection of Early Lung Cancer Biomarkers’, was developed by Team Nordchild.
It demonstrates high accuracy at a lower cost, showing strong potential for commercialization in the medical industry. Notably, the innovation could help increase survival rates by up to 90% through early detection.
The project was presented by Mr. Methawut Sirisom (Ph.D. student in Biochemistry, Faculty of Science), Mr. Theeraphat Sontaphan (Faculty of Social Sciences), Mr. Yanawut Donchai (Chiang Mai University Business School), Ms. Phitthayaphon Jinapengkat (Faculty of Agro-Industry), and Miss Suphitcha Rujirawan (Faculty of Humanities). The project was led by Associate Professor Dr. Kontad Ounnunkad, with co-advisors Dr. Supakeit Chanarsa and
Dr. Siriporn Anuthun, all from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science.
