ICDI CMU Joins the Procession of Phra Buddha Ping Nakhara Phi Mongkhon in Preservation of the Lanna New Year Tradition 2026
17 April 2026
International College of Digital Innovation
On April 13, 2026, the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, together with its administrators, faculty members, staff, and students, took part in an activity to preserve the Lanna New Year tradition as part of the procession for the ceremonial bathing of Chiang Mai’s revered Buddha images.
On this occasion, Chiang Mai University respectfully enshrined “Phra Buddha Ping Nakhara Phi Mongkhon,” the University’s principal Buddha image, on a ceremonial carriage joining the procession of important Buddha images of Chiang Mai Province. The Chiang Mai University procession was the 12th in line, moving from Nawarat Bridge, through Tha Phae Gate, and onward to Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan, Chiang Mai.
The college’s participation in this event reflected its commitment to conserving, continuing, and promoting the rich arts and cultural heritage of Lanna, while also helping share local identity and cultural values with the public.
