CMU Partners with SNU to Help UHS-Laos Produce Healthcare Professionals
22 February 2023
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
On January 30, 2023, at the Office of the University, CMU and the University of Health Sciences of Lao PDR (UHS-Laos) renewed their academic collaboration to promote human resource development in healthcare, which is a cooperation between the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Associated Medical Sciences. The MOU was signed by Professor Dr. Pongruk Sribunditmongkol, President of CMU, and Dr. Bounthome Samountry, the UHS-Laos President, with the executives of both parties as witnesses.
In addition to the bilateral agreement on academic collaboration signed at the beginning of the year, CMU has also partnered with Seoul National University (SNU) to found the first university hospital at UHS-Laos with the financial support for construction from South Korea, and the technological and academic support from SNU. The collaboration by the three institutions will help promote good health for the people of Laos through knowledge transfer and training in healthcare and public health for UHS-Laos students and staff to help reduce the shortage of physicians, nurses, and pharmacists at the university which is set to open in 2025.
