MIdS CMU Organizes Cultural Learning Activity on the Loy Krathong Festival for Students
6 November 2025
Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School
On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Chiang Mai University (MIdS CMU), organized a cultural learning activity on the Loy Krathong Festival for MIdS graduate students. The activity was held under the project “Promoting Thai Language Learning and Skill Development for International Students through Cultural Exchange Activities.”
The objective was to deepen understanding of Thai traditions and culture, enhance intercultural communication and adaptation in a multicultural environment, and create an informal learning space that supports practical Thai language development through learning by doing. The activity also aimed to strengthen relationships between international students, Thai students, and MIdS staff.
The event featured a lecture on “The History of the Loy Krathong Festival,” followed by hands-on workshops on Lanna-style lantern making and Krathong crafting at Room 2-202, Building 2, MIdS CMU. Participants also visited Wat Lok Molee and the Chiang Mai Moat area to experience the rich cultural atmosphere of the Loy Krathong Festival.
