ICDI Consults BJI Supply Chain Co., Ltd. to Study Thailand–China Durian Supply Chain Cooperation
4 August 2026
International College of Digital Innovation
On 30 July 2026, the research team for the project "Review and Analysis of Data for the Study on Domestic and Regional Rail Network Connectivity," commissioned by the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization) (RTRDA), visited BJI Supply Chain Co., Ltd. in Chumphon Province to examine Thailand's durian export supply chain, cross-border agricultural trade, and logistics systems supporting exports to the People's Republic of China.
The delegation was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University and Project Leader, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, ICDI faculty member and former President of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (Project Advisor); Mr. Somsak Wongpanyathorn, former Senior Director of the Bank of Thailand (Researcher); Ms. Suppara Sekacharn, former Thai Commercial Attach? and former Director of the Thai Trade Center in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China (Researcher); and Ms. She Bibi, an expert in the Chinese economy and financial technology (Researcher).
The team met with Mr. Vincent Lin, representative of BJI Supply Chain Co., Ltd., to discuss Thailand's durian supply chain, procurement systems, logistics management, and opportunities for strengthening agricultural trade cooperation between Thailand and China. According to the company, more than 1,200 containers of durian have been exported from Eastern Thailand during the current harvest season, while approximately 80 containers have been shipped from Southern Thailand, with export volumes expected to increase as the southern harvest progresses.
The discussions also covered regional differences in durian production, supply chain management, and key challenges facing exporters, including working capital, transportation costs, logistics efficiency, and growing market competition. The insights gained will contribute to the study of rail freight connectivity, cold chain logistics, and financing mechanisms for agricultural supply chains, while supporting evidence-based policy recommendations to strengthen Thailand's rail network, cross-border logistics, agricultural trade, and long-term economic cooperation with the People's Republic of China.
