CMU Official Buddha Image at Annual Lanna Buddha Bathing Procession

On April 13, 2026, CMU took part in the Lanna New Year procession featuring Chiang Mai’s revered Buddha images. The procession commenced at Nawarat Bridge and proceeded to Wat Phra Singh, with CMU’s parade appearing as number 12 in the lineup. The university’s official Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Phingkhonakharaphimongkhon, was elegantly enshrined on a chariot adorned with intricately crafted bamboo wickerwork. The design seamlessly blended faith with local artistry, offering a contemporary interpretation of Lanna wisdom while preserving and honoring traditional craftsmanship and local artisans. The procession was attended by CMU executives, staff, and students, led by President Professor Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol.
