Ph.D. Arts and Design Pre-Thesis Exhibition by YUNPI ZHOU
15 May 2026
Faculty of Fine Arts
Ph.D. Arts and Design Pre-Thesis Exhibition by YUNPI ZHOU, titled “Afternoon Offensive/Tea in a Time of War,” will be held from May 6–28, 2026, at the Art Gallery, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University.
The exhibition explores the relationship between war, cultural fragmentation, and resource conflict through the symbolic meaning of tea. Inspired by the artist’s childhood memories of drinking tea while listening to his grandfather’s wartime stories, the works reflect on war, identity, and the impact of power-driven conflicts on human life and culture.
Through installation art and material experimentation, the artist presents satirical works that criticize the destruction caused by war while expressing a strong desire for peace. The exhibition also encourages audiences to rethink whether conflict must always be resolved through violence and the battlefield.
The opening ceremony will take place on May 7, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the Art Gallery, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University.
