Faculty of Economics, CMU Welcomes New Undergraduate Students for the 2026 Academic Year

On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organised its Undergraduate Orientation Programme for the 2026 Academic Year to prepare newly admitted students for university life, academic success, and the development of essential skills for the twenty-first century. The programme was held separately for the regular programme at the Phasuk Lifelong Learning Hall, Building 1, and the International Programme at the Rit Sirimat Lifelong Learning Room, Building 3.

For students in the regular programme, the morning session commenced with a welcome address and congratulatory remarks delivered by Asst. Prof. Tatcha Sudtasan, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, who introduced the Faculty's vision, mission, and strategic directions. The session aimed to inspire students and provide a clear understanding of the Faculty's commitment to academic excellence.

This was followed by presentations from Saowaluk Duangin, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Student Quality Development, and Assoc. Prof. Kunsuda Nimanussornkul, Ph.D., who introduced university life, student welfare and support services, as well as Chiang Mai University's Soft Skills and SkillSpherE development systems. Students also received guidance on academic programmes, course registration procedures, and essential academic information from Asst. Prof. Tatcha Sudtasan, Ph.D. and the Educational Services and Student Quality Development team before meeting their academic advisers and Teaching Assistants (TAs).

During the afternoon, students participated in the Freshy ECON Well-being Programme, facilitated by psychologists from Chiang Mai University, focusing on mental well-being and adjustment to university life. They were also introduced to the Faculty Student Committee, upcoming first-year activities, and the Economics Club Open House, where they explored student clubs and extracurricular opportunities.

For the International Programme, the morning session began with a welcome address by Mattana Wongsirikajorn, Ph.D., Assistant Dean, who presented the Faculty's vision, mission, and strategic priorities. Benjapon Prommawin, Executive Assistant to the Dean, together with the Strategic Partnership team, introduced university life, student welfare, and practical information for international students. Mattana Wongsirikajorn, Ph.D. and the Educational Services and Student Quality Development team also provided guidance on academic programmes, course registration, and academic regulations before students met their academic advisers and Teaching Assistants.

In the afternoon, international students joined the Freshy ECON Well-being Programme and the Economics Club Open House, encouraging student engagement, friendship, and a strong sense of belonging within the Faculty community.

The orientation programme reflects the Faculty of Economics' commitment to providing holistic support for new students by fostering academic readiness, personal development, well-being, and active participation in student life, ensuring they embark on their university journey with confidence and purpose.
