On 31 May 2025, the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University (ICDI CMU), visited MERAK Group in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China, to explore emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the digital economy, and digital infrastructure innovation, while discussing opportunities for future collaboration in education, research, and technology development.

The ICDI CMU delegation was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattasit Sukhahuta, Vice President for Digital Technology and Law, Chiang Mai University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, Former Dean and Distinguished Professor of the International College of Digital Innovation, and members of the College’s staff.

During the visit, executives and experts from MERAK Group presented the company’s latest developments in advanced computing technologies, AI cloud services, digital infrastructure solutions, and data center technologies—key drivers of digital economic growth and modern technology industries. The delegation also exchanged perspectives on the future of AI development, data-driven innovation, and the advancement of regional digital ecosystems.

In addition, ICDI CMU representatives shared the College’s initiatives in artificial intelligence, digital innovation, smart city development, and international collaboration. Both parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in AI applications, sustainable digital infrastructure development, digital economy promotion, and the establishment of innovation networks between China and ASEAN countries. The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening connections between academia and industry to support knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and innovation that addresses the evolving demands of the digital era.
