CMU partners with ARDA in research and personnel development for community benefits
5 April 2021
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
On February 23, 2021, Chiang Mai University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Agricultural Research Development Agency (a public organization), or ARDA, for academic cooperation on funding for agricultural research and personnel development. Clinical Prof. Niwes Nantachit, President of CMU, revealed that ARDA aims to provide research funding and education to strengthen the agricultural sector, and it is also a management body of the National Program Management Unit. CMU has received funding since 2009, and about 129 projects have benefited from the contribution, which amounts to 300 million baht in total.
In recent years, CMU has been focusing on integrated and interdisciplinary research and innovation development for community benefit, sustainable excellence, and network cooperation with other sectors, both domestic and international. Outstanding research projects include anti-aging cosmetics from the extract of yellow flowers – cassia fistula and marigold; red rice extract; acacia concinna extract; Miang, fermented tea leaves; and the extracted oil of black soldier fly that has anti-acne and antioxidant benefits in cosmetic use.
This MOU is a great opportunity for both organizations to collaborate and determine the guidelines for collaboration management as the funding body and the recipient to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, encourage growth, and extend high-quality research to the community and network parties for sustainable development.
