CMU Faculty of Agro-Industry Wins Best Poster Presentation Award at the 2nd International Conference of Innovative Aquaculture
3 December 2025
Faculty of Agro-Industry
The Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Associate Professor Dr. Poonpat Poonnoy from the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, and Associate Professor Dr. Nissara Kitcharoen from the Faculty of Fisheries Technology and Aquatic Resources, Maejo University, on receiving the Best Poster Presentation Award at the 2nd International Conference of Innovative Aquaculture, “Innovative Aquaculture for a Sustainable and Resilient Future,” held on November 27–28, 2025, at Sukhothai Rooms 1 and 2, Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai. The award was presented for their research titled “Preliminary Study on Semantic Segmentation of Head, Tail, Fins, and Body of Nile Tilapia Using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks with Transfer Learning.”
This research resulted from the integration of engineering and fisheries technology, applying deep learning artificial intelligence to develop tools for detecting and measuring key morphological features of Nile tilapia from digital images. This approach contributes to reduced time and labor in data collection and holds promise for enhancing the efficiency of selective breeding processes for Nile tilapia and for further development of Thailand’s agricultural industry in the future.
