From “Communities” to “Meaningful Tourism Pathways”
The Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University, is advancing a Community-Based Tourism Academic Service Project to strengthen local cultural capital, promote the creative economy, and support sustainable tourism through community participation.
Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Supitcha Punya, the project operates in two key areas:
“Tiao Aew Long Kong Wua Lai”
Enhancing the charm of the Wua Lai community through tourism routes connecting local lifestyles, handicrafts, and cultural identity.
“Jai Yong Roi Lue Phuk Yuan San Phi Nong Tai Yai”
Connecting ethnic stories, local wisdom, and cultural heritage to develop sustainable tourism routes for community growth.
Field surveys and tourism route design activities were conducted in Chiang Mai and Lamphun provinces.
Tourism is not only about traveling — it is about creating opportunities, generating local income, and preserving community identity for sustainable growth.
