NurseCMU Students Enhance Global Competency through Exchange Program with the University of the Ryukyus and Otemae University, Japan

Faculty of Nursing
The Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, organized a student and faculty exchange program with partner institutions abroad to promote experiential learning and broaden international perspectives on health care. The program also aims to strengthen students’ language proficiency, leadership skills, and global competencies in response to the needs of learners, stakeholders, communities, and society.

During November 9-16, 2025, a group of 15 students and faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing participated in the exchange program at two partner universities in Japan: University of the Ryukyus (November 9-15, 2025), Otemae University (November 10-16, 2025)
.
The CMU delegates received a warm welcome from both universities and engaged in a variety of academic and cultural activities, including university orientations, learning about Japan’s health care system, nursing skill practice in classroom settings, visits to health care facilities and cultural landmarks, as well as cultural exchange sessions. CMU nursing students also shared Thai cultural identity and exchanged experiences about university life with Japanese students, fostering meaningful friendships and cross-cultural understanding.

This exchange program reflects the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University’s strong commitment to nurturing students to become internationally competent professional nurses. Through the continuous enhancement of international capabilities, cross-cultural learning, and academic collaboration with global partners, the Faculty continues to prepare its students to become global nursing professionals in the 21st century.
