Opening ceremony of the Online International Training Course on Occupational Health and Safety in the Community: How to Strengthen the Capacity of Public Health Personnel

On 15 August 2022, the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, with the support of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), organized an online international training course on “Occupational Health and Safety in the Community: How to Strengthen the Capacity of Public Health Personnel” between August 15 - September 2, 2022, via Zoom Meeting platform and Nurse KC Moodle Platform. Sixty health personnel from 18 countries registered for the course, including Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Maldivian, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen. Miss Hataichanok Siriwadhanakul, Human Resources Development Cooperation Division, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), delivered a welcome speech, and Asst. Prof. Dr.Thanee Kaewthummanukul, Ph.D., RN Dean, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, gave the opening address to the participants.
Training Objectives for the Course:
1. Understand the health care system and occupational health and safety system and policy in Thailand
2. Explain fundamental principles of occupational health and safety
3. Understand basic knowledge of occupational health and safety
4. Describe the role and function of public health personnel in providing occupational health and safety services
5. Perform a workplace walk-through survey to assess and identify risks related to work
6. Understand principles of occupational health surveillance and screening
7. Recommend strategies or approaches for health promotion and reduce risks among workers
