ICDI CMU Visits Tsinghua SIGS and Tsinghua Alumni Enterprise to Strengthen Collaboration in AI, Digital Innovation, and International Talent Development

On 2 June 2026, the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University (ICDI CMU), participated in a series of academic exchange activities and visits to leading technology organizations in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China, to promote collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital innovation, and international partnership development.

The delegation was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattasit Sukhahuta, Vice President for Digital Technology and Law, Chiang Mai University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, Former Dean and Distinguished Professor of the International College of Digital Innovation, and members of the College’s staff.

During the morning session, the delegation met with executives and faculty members from the Institute of Data and Information, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS), led by Professor Xueqian Wang, Chairman of the Institute Council, along with members of the Institute’s leadership team and faculty. Both institutions shared information on their academic programs, research strengths, internationalization strategies, and approaches to talent development for the 21st century.

Discussions focused on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, data science, intelligent communications, innovation ecosystems, and emerging technologies, as well as the role of higher education institutions in driving innovation and addressing future economic and societal challenges.

The two institutions also explored opportunities for future academic collaboration, including joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of a “1+2 Postgraduate Pathway Program” aimed at nurturing globally competitive talent and supporting innovation development across China and ASEAN. During the visit, the delegation toured several of Tsinghua SIGS’s key research facilities, including the Robotics Laboratory, Smart Communication and Computing Laboratory, Lightwave for Intelligence and Telecommunication (LIT) Laboratory, and Interactive Media Design and Technology Laboratory, showcasing the university’s advancements in AI, intelligent systems, robotics, communication technologies, and digital innovation.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Huo Li Tian Hui Group, a technology company established by Tsinghua University alumni and a developer of digital platforms for smart mobility services. Company representatives presented their latest innovations in intelligent translation devices and multilingual communication technologies, which play an important role in supporting education, tourism, international conferences, and cross-border collaboration.

Both sides exchanged views on the application of AI-powered language technologies to enhance education, intercultural communication, and China–ASEAN cooperation. Discussions also explored opportunities for developing and adapting AI-based translation technologies for the Thai language, as well as future multilingual digital service platforms.

The visits to Tsinghua SIGS and Huo Li Tian Hui Group further strengthened the relationship between Chiang Mai University, Tsinghua University, and China’s technology sector, while laying an important foundation for future collaboration in artificial intelligence, digital innovation, talent development, and international research. These initiatives are aligned with ICDI CMU’s mission to expand global partnerships and advance digital knowledge and innovation, contributing to the sustainable development of the China–ASEAN innovation ecosystem.
