MIdS CMU Organizes a Workshop on “Social Return on Investment (SROI) Evaluation”
28 January 2026
Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School
On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School (MIdS), Chiang Mai University, organized a workshop entitled “Social Return on Investment (SROI) Evaluation.” The opening remarks were delivered by Professor Dr. Puangrat Kaewlom, Associate Dean of MIdS CMU.
The workshop was conducted by a team of speakers who serve as SROI evaluators and certified verifiers of Chiang Mai University, including Assistant Professor Dr. Chalermpon Kongjit, Assistant Professor Dr. Noppcha Singwerathem, Assistant Professor Dr. Nattapon Tantrakoonsab, and Lecturer Dr. Sasipatch chaisiribodin, and was held at Room 2–202, Building 2, MIdS CMU.
The workshop aimed to provide training and guidance on preparing project proposal forms for project-based evaluations of economic and social impacts, in both online and onsite formats. It sought to encourage graduate students to learn and apply the SROI framework in research activities and social development projects, and to support funding initiatives that emphasize the creation of tangible social value and outcomes.
In addition, the workshop contributed to the development of knowledge and empirical data on social returns, serving as a foundation for further research and public policy development. It also aimed to strengthen the capacity of the College as a hub for nurturing professionals capable of driving sustainable development at national and international levels, under the Social Impact Investment Pilot Project, which supports funding for projects focused on generating value through social return on investment assessment.
