On August 30, 2019 Dr. Suwit Maesinsee, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation together with his team of executives and officers visited Chiang Mai University and attended a presentation on CMU’s strategic plan on regional development and discussed interdisciplinary approaches including Science and Social – Humanities to drive the nation’s development.
CMU’s President Clinical Professor Niwes Nantachit and his team of executives welcomed the minister who also visited CMU’s Quantum of Research and Development Center, a prototyping center for high innovative technology, which is a core base for technological development.
In the afternoon, Dr. Suwit Maesinsee and his team met with university executives from 14 universities including Chiang Mai University, Rajamongkol Lanna Technology University, Naraesuan University, Maejo University, Mae Fah Luang University, Payao University, Rajabhat Chiang Rai University, Rajabhat Chiang Mai University, Rajabhat Piboonsongkram University, Rajabhat Uttaradith University, Rajabhat Kampaengphet University, Rajabhat Nakornsawan University, Rajabhat Lampang University, Rajabhat Petchaboon University, in order to discuss the ministry’s policy that focuses on manpower development and research & innovation to support the nation’s development.
At this meeting CMU’s Dr. Thanyanuparb Anantana, Director of Science and Technology Park Science presented details regarding the implementation of the Science and Technology Park, Northern Network and a presentation was given by entrepreneurs who had successful startups in connection with this Northern Network in the following categories
(1) university startups from former students, including companies such as Recute, Biogas, Organize, Cosme Health Channel
(2) startups that utilized technology for developing the educational system, include companies such as Feedback 180, Synaps (Thailand)
(3) entrepreneurs and startups who utilized the research or service in the Science Park include Bee Products Industry, U - Diamond Healthy, Green Diamond
(4) innovation that is effective for society includes Siam Novars, Trise ETC, Mae Thong Pon Boneless Sour Fish Limited Partnership, Thai Star Nut, Kamol Indico, Thanabhorn Rice Mill
