ICDI, Chiang Mai University Participates in RTRDA Knowledge Sharing Activity to Enhance Research and Innovation Capacity in International Rail Systems

On 13 January 2026, the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation, together with the project team, participated in the RTRDA Knowledge Sharing activity under the project titled Development of an Information System for Logistics and Supply Chain Management of Freight Transportation between China, Africa, Europe, Malaysia, and Singapore via Thailand’s Rail Network for Fiscal Year 2024. The event was held at the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization).

The activity aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge in research, development, and innovation related to international rail systems and logistics. The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Chotchai Charoenngam, Chairman of the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency, together with Dr. Piang-or Loahavilai, Director of the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency.

The program featured academic seminars delivered by internationally renowned experts from the Zuse Institute Berlin, Germany, and the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore. The sessions addressed contemporary and relevant topics aligned with the advancement of rail systems and digital technologies derived from the research project. The seminar topics included:
    • “Research, Development, Transfer, and Innovation” by Prof. Dr. Thorsten Koch
    • “Algorithmic Intelligence in the Quantum-AI Era” by Associate Professor Dr. Ying Chen
    • “Railway Corridor Capacity Optimization” by Prof. Dr. Ralf Bornd?fer

The seminars were followed by an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange perspectives and engage in in-depth discussions with the speakers.
Participation in this activity reflects the active role of the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University, in advancing digital and rail-related research and innovation, as well as in strengthening international academic networks. The knowledge gained will be further applied to research development, teaching and learning, and the promotion of sustainable national development.
