International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University Welcomes Delegation from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and International University of Kagoshima, Japan, to Discuss International Academic Collaboration

International College of Digital Innovation
On 27 May 2026, the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of ICDI, together with the college’s faculty members, welcomed a delegation from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Kagoshima International University, Japan, on the occasion of their visit to discuss academic and research collaboration between the institutions.
The delegation was led by Prof. Wang Zhen, former Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) and Director of the Yangtze River Delta and Yangtze Economic Belt Research Center, an expert in regional economics, digital economy, and innovation strategy; and Prof. Kojo Shion, an expert in international management, Asian economics, and brand theory, who also serves as a representative of the Global Regional Studies Association and Vice President of the Chinese Professors Association in Japan.
The visit aimed to strengthen international academic collaboration and foster future cooperation among institutions. The visiting delegation included distinguished scholars and researchers with expertise in diverse fields, including digital economy, cybersecurity, international relations, disaster politics, and international management in Asia.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged perspectives on future academic cooperation initiatives, focusing on potential Joint Research Projects in digital economy and innovation policy in Asia, as well as the organization of International Symposiums and Academic Forums on topics related to cross-cultural exchange in the digital era. These initiatives aim to enhance international academic networks and promote collaborative knowledge development on a global scale.
This discussion marks another significant milestone for the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University, in expanding partnerships with leading international institutions and reinforcing the university’s role in advancing research and digital innovation at both regional and global levels.
