MIdS CMU Participates in the Traditional “Dam Hua” Ceremony for Former and Current Presidents and Senior Faculty Members of Chiang Mai University – 2025
25 April 2025
Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School
On Friday, April 25, 2025, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School (MIdS), Chiang Mai University, participated in the annual “Dam Hua” ceremony held at the Chiang Mai University Auditorium. This traditional Lanna ceremony was organized to pay respects to former university presidents, the current president, and senior faculty members.
Leading the delegation were Associate Professor Dr. Apichat Sopadang, Dean of MIdS CMU; Associate Professor Dr. Ekkarat Boonchieng, Deputy Dean; and Assistant Professor Dr. Vorathamon Cherapanukorn, Assistant Dean, along with other MIdS staff. All participants wore traditional Lanna attire and took part in the procession and ceremony to express their respect and contribute to the preservation and continuation of the valuable cultural heritage and traditions of Lanna.
Moreover, the college staff collaboratively crafted “Tung Sai Moo” (a traditional Lanna-style flag), as part of preserving Lanna artistic wisdom and the “Pee Mai Mueang” New Year tradition of Northern Thailand, under the theme “Lanna Flags and the Precious Culture of the Lanna People.”
Additionally, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School received an honorable mention in the Northern-style “Laab” (traditional minced meat salad) cooking competition, held in front of the university’s administrative building. The event aimed to preserve, promote, and disseminate knowledge about local culinary arts and traditional food preparation.
