Faculty Members and Staff from CAMT, Participate in the Erasmus Mundus+ Capacity Building (KA171 Program) at the University of Florence, Italy
10 November 2025
College of Art, Media and Technology
Faculty members and staff from the College of Arts, Media and Technology (CAMT), Chiang Mai University, participated in the Mobility for Training and Teaching program under the Erasmus Mundus+ Capacity Building (KA171 Program) at the University of Florence, Italy, from October 27–31, 2025, hosted by the School of Political Science. The representatives from CAMT included:
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Achara Khamaksorn, Lecturer in Innovation and Knowledge Management
• Dr. Thakrit Chiablaem, Lecturer in Animation and Visual Effects
• Ms. Thanaporn Ngamprapassom, Head of Research and International Relations
This program aims to promote the exchange of academic knowledge, teaching and learning practices, and capacity building among higher education institutions at the international level. It also seeks to strengthen academic and cultural collaboration among partner universities, fostering a shared environment of learning and the development of effective institutional practices aligned with global standards. The project is led and coordinated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Orrawit Thinnukool, Assistant to the Dean for International Collaboration and Fundraising.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in a range of academic and cultural activities, including:
• Visits to various departments within the University, such as the library at Campus Novoli
• Class observation in the course China in International History instructed by Prof. Matteo Miele
• Participation in the academic conference Religion and Science held at Sala d’Ercole, Via San Gallo 10
Additionally, participants attended the Erasmus+ KA171 Project Seminar at Campus Novoli, joined by representatives from several international partner universities including University of Elbasan, Prince of Songkla University, Chiang Mai University, and University of Florence. The seminar provided a platform for sharing experiences in higher education management and international collaboration. The event was officially opened by Prof. Andrea Lippi, Dean of the School of Political Sciences, and Ms. Albana Dedja, Senior Coordinator from the International Affairs Department, University of Florence.
The participation in this program demonstrates CAMT’s strong commitment to fostering international academic cooperation and enhancing the global competency of its faculty and staff. Since 2023, the partnership between Chiang Mai University and the University of Florence has enabled more than seven participants, including both staff and students, to take part in activities fully funded by the Erasmus Mundus+ Program.
In 2021, the College of Arts, Media and Technology collaborated with the University of Florence on the project “Advancing Strategic Management, Leadership and Fundraising in Higher Education in Asia (ASTRA)”. The College continues to serve as a central hub that extends academic and research cooperation with European institutions to seek external funding support for research and development initiatives.
At present, Chiang Mai University continues to maintain and strengthen its bilateral cooperation with the University of Florence through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), focusing on collaborative knowledge development, joint research, and academic exchange. This partnership also serves as a foundation for developing future project proposals to secure funding from the European Union, thereby advancing international academic collaboration in higher education.
