" We cannot stop natural disaster but we can arm ourselves with knowledge and innovation "
As climate change intensifies, we can observe differently types of natural and man-made disasters in Asia. This ranges from earthquake, flood, draught, typhoon, tsunami, to haze, which is a serious transboundary air pollution problem for most of Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia. In 2014 all ASEAN member states have ratified the ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution (AATHP). To achieve such ambitious goal, there needs to be continuously streams of deliberative platforms for sharing good ideas for innovation, technology, and social solutions to govern such complex phenomenon as disasters and haze.
The event will have six speakers all focusing on certain aspects of disaster management or governance. This includes innovative use of technology, interesting policies and practices, and emerging trends of disaster relief.
