Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
The newly established Northern Regional Veterinary Healthcare and Learning Centre (NOVEL CMU), operated by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Chiang Mai University, features comprehensive treatment clinics equipped with modern technology. Beyond its clinical services, NOVEL CMU will function as a learning and research hub, fostering the capacity development of veterinary professionals from foundational to advanced levels. Full services are scheduled to commence on May 1st.
Staffed by experienced veterinary specialists and equipped with advanced technology, the Centre offers dedicated clinics for companion animals and exotic pets. These clinics are prepared to handle a wide range of medical needs, from basic care to intricate procedures such as caesarean sections, orthopaedic surgeries, and the treatment of traumatic injuries. The facility is organized into six departments.
7. Internal Medicine Department provides diagnosis and treatment for complex diseases, offering separate and comfortable zones for feline and canine patients. Its modern treatment rooms incorporate clearly segregated areas to optimise care.
8. Surgical Department provides orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, oral surgery and features a dedicated surgical unit for exotic pets.
9. Diagnostic Imaging Department offers crucial services for the diagnosis of diseases undetectable through physical examination alone, utilising X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scans.
10. Haematology and Biochemistry Laboratory Department conducts analyses in haematology, immunology, clinical chemistry, clinical microscopy, and pathology. Additionally, it manages a pet blood bank, extending its services to public and private agencies for disease diagnosis in both companion and farm animals.
11. Special Clinic Department provides specialised care across 15 distinct fields, including ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, oral and dental care, orthopaedics, nephrology, feline medicine, oncology, exotic pet care, physiotherapy, neurology, gastroenterology and hepatology, reproductive and endocrine medicine, acupuncture, and aquatic animal medicine.
12. In-patient and Critical Care Department offers 24-hour rooms for sick animals, staffed by veterinary doctors and nurses. The facility includes segregated care units to prevent disease transmission, specifically for cats and dogs (general care, gastrointestinal infection, respiratory infection) and other critically-ill animals, along with dedicated visiting rooms.
13. Pet Taxi offers secure pet transportation services throughout Chiang Mai and neighbouring provinces. Fares start at 250 baht and are calculated based on the actual distance traveled.
Furthermore, the Northern Regional Veterinary Healthcare and Learning Centre (NOVEL CMU) will function as a vital learning resource for pet disease treatment and prevention, offering academic services to the Northern Thai community. It will also support the clinical education and practical training of fifth and sixth-year veterinary students from Chiang Mai University.
