ICDI Hosts Workshop on “How to Write a Research Paper for Successful Journal Submission” to Enhance Research Publication Skills

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, organized a hands-on workshop entitled “How to Write a Research Paper for Successful Journal Submission” at Room ICB1211. The workshop aimed to strengthen research capabilities and enhance academic writing skills for successful publication in international journals. The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Hung T. Nguyen, who served as the guest speaker.

During the three-hour workshop, Prof. Dr. Nguyen shared valuable insights and practical strategies for producing high-quality research papers and navigating the international journal publication process. He emphasized the importance of shifting researchers’ mindsets from that of a technician to an engineer, encouraging participants to adopt a broader, more systematic perspective throughout the research process.

Throughout the session, Prof. Dr. Nguyen highlighted the importance of extensive reading as the foundation of high-quality research. Drawing on ideas from The Art of Statistics (2019) and Why Machines Learn (2025), he demonstrated how interdisciplinary knowledge can inspire innovative research and strengthen academic work.

The workshop also covered key evaluation criteria commonly used by journal reviewers, including originality and novelty, methodological rigor, the reliability of research findings, and the effectiveness of scholarly communication. In addition, participants learned how to structure research projects systematically by defining a clear research problem, preparing relevant data, and selecting appropriate research methodologies.

Participants were further introduced to advanced empirical analysis techniques, including Ridge Regression, LASSO, Bayesian testing, and Copulas, as tools for enhancing research quality. Prof. Dr. Nguyen also emphasized that while statistical software is an important research tool, genuine research excellence ultimately depends on sound research design, critical thinking, and a thorough understanding of research methodology.

This workshop reflects ICDI’s commitment to strengthening the research capabilities of its students and faculty members while supporting the production of high-quality scholarly work for publication in internationally recognized academic journals, contributing to the College’s continued advancement in research excellence.
