In an era defined by rapid change, the role of universities has evolved beyond the traditional transfer of classroom knowledge. Today, universities serve as dynamic spaces where young minds experiment and develop innovations that address pressing social and economic needs. To meet this challenge, builds CMU has emerged as a flagship program designed to foster startups and entrepreneurs. It is founded on the firm belief that ‘anyone can start their own business,’ whether inspired by a small idea sparked during their studies or by advanced research and innovation ready for commercialization.

builds CMU empowers students to translate ideas into practice by shifting the focus from abstract theory to hands-on experience. The program guides students through the entire entrepreneurial lifecycle: from initial ideation and team building to product design and the creation of prototypes or Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for market testing. Supervised by mentors and industry specialists, students learn through real-world trial and error, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business landscape.
Since its inception, builds CMU has facilitated the establishment of over 20 student-led companies, generating a combined revenue of more than 23.2 million baht. This achievement highlights more than just the potential of the student body; it proves that classrooms and laboratories can serve as legitimate business incubators. With the right support system, academic problem sets and research projects can evolve into high-value startups that contribute meaningfully to society.

Currently, builds CMU boasts a community of over 5,000 aspiring entrepreneurs. The program has organized more than 200 activities and supported the creation of startup clubs across various faculties. These clubs allow students to cultivate specialized expertise based on their faculty's unique strengths before collaborating through the centralized builds ecosystem. The program’s primary role is to serve as the central mechanism for fostering entrepreneurial talent, from sparking initial interest to commercializing research and refining essential skills in marketing, finance, and management.

Furthermore, builds CMU bridges the gap between students and vital professional networks, including potential teammates, investors, business allies, and public or private funding sources. By fostering collaborations with external agencies, the program provides students with new perspectives and significantly increases their chances of sustainable business growth.

A major milestone for the program is the integration of entrepreneurial education into the university’s formal curriculum. Three new elective courses are now available through the standard registration system. builds CMU manages the content and activities for these courses, which utilize a hybrid model combining online learning with practical workshops. This approach allows students to learn the mechanics of starting a business, covering everything from prototype testing to strategic execution.
The program’s most recent highlight was the launch of "builds: A NEW CHAPTER – Start Your Journey Here." This event was designed to kickstart the entrepreneurial journey for new students, featuring inspirational talks from CMU alumni who successfully balanced business ventures with their academic study.

Ultimately, builds CMU is more than an extracurricular project; it is a transformative learning space where students discover their potential, practice systematic thinking, and grow alongside a network of established entrepreneurs. The mission of builds CMU extends beyond merely creating startups; it strives to cultivate a new generation of manpower that dares to think, dares to try, and dares to drive change for a sustainable future.
