Faculty of Social Sciences Co-hosts Overseas Ethnographic Workshop 2026 to Strengthen International Academic Collaboration in Anthropology

Led by Zhejiang University, in collaboration with Nankai University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Xiamen University, Shanghai University, Yunnan Agricultural University, and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, the Overseas Ethnography Workshop 2026 is being held from 1–3 August 2026 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University.

The workshop was officially opened with a welcome address by Associate Professor Dr. Wasan Panyagaew, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, who welcomed faculty members, researchers, and students attending the event at the Dhani Bhaholyodhin Conference Room.

Founded in 1897, Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of China’s leading research universities. Ranked 47th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, ZJU is consistently recognized among the top 3–5 universities in China and is internationally renowned for its academic excellence and strong global research collaborations.

The workshop aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences in anthropology and ethnographic fieldwork, while strengthening academic collaboration among international scholars and students. Over the three-day program, participants from various countries take part in keynote lectures, paper presentations, and academic discussions, providing opportunities to share research experiences and build international academic networks.
