CMU Welcomes Minister of Culture During Visit to Khum Chao Burirat (Maha Intra) to Review Chiang Mai World Heritage Preparations

On July 18, 2026, Professor of Practice Dr. Ekkachai Mahaek, Vice President of Chiang Mai University and Chair of the Chiang Mai World Heritage Site Inspection Preparation Committee, welcomed a delegation led by Ms. Sabida Thaised, Minister of Culture, and
Mr. Ratthaphon Naradisorn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, during their visit to the Lanna Architecture Centre, Khum Chao Burirat (Maha Intra). The visit formed part of an inspection of key sites within Chiang Mai's Old City in preparation for the forthcoming evaluation by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), as well as a follow-up on the implementation of the Ministry of Culture's key policies. The Lanna Architecture Centre has been designated by the working party as the temporary information center, hosting exhibitions on Chiang Mai's eight cultural landscapes to be presented to the ICOMOS evaluation team. Also welcoming the delegation were Assistant Professor Dr. Pandin Ounchanum, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Assistant Professor Kan Khamkaew, Director of the Centre of Architectural Research and Academic Services
