ICDI Chiang Mai University Joins the Traditional Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony to Celebrate the Lanna New Year 2026

On Friday, April 24, 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, led a delegation of executives, faculty members, staff, and students to participate in Chiang Mai University’s traditional Rod Nam Dam Hua ceremony 2026. The ceremony was held at the CMU Convention Hall to pay respect to the Chairperson of the University Council, former CMU Presidents, and senior faculty members, as part of the celebration of the Lanna New Year, or “Pi Mai Mueang.”

The event aimed to preserve and promote the valuable cultural heritage, customs, and traditions of Lanna. On this occasion, ICDI participants joined the ceremonial procession in unity, reflecting the shared commitment of faculty members, staff, and students to preserving the university’s cherished traditions.

In addition, ICDI sent staff and student representatives to participate in the Lanna traditional costume contest. The representatives were as follows:

- Mr. Andrea Kritboon Chatuekklin
- Ms. Maher Reshi

ICDI received the Second Runner-Up Award in the Student Category of the Lanna traditional costume contest, represented by Mr. Andrea Kritboon Chatuekklin and Ms. Maher Reshi. In addition, Mr. Andrea Kritboon Chatuekklin was honored with the STAR Student Award for his participation in the event.

ICDI’s participation in this meaningful activity reflects the College’s strong commitment to preserving, promoting, and carrying forward Lanna cultural traditions, while also strengthening unity, relationships, and shared pride within the Chiang Mai University community.
