On 29 January 2026, at Kantary Hills Hotel Chiang Mai, Assistant Professor Dr. Choncharoen Sawangrat, Assistant to the President, delivered welcoming remarks at the AUN Dx AI Governance for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) Workshop, organized by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in collaboration with the AUN Dx network. The workshop aimed to promote knowledge exchange on AI governance in higher education, emphasizing the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of artificial intelligence in alignment with academic missions. It featured a keynote lecture titled “Responsible AI in Higher Education Institutions” by Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, former Minister of Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, and Technology Administrator at the National University of Singapore. Participants also engaged in a brainstorming session to outline principles and guidelines for AI governance across teaching, research, innovation, and administration. The workshop served as a key platform for fostering regional collaboration, strengthening AI governance standards among ASEAN higher education institutions, and promoting the sustainable and socially responsible use of technology.
