ICDI Preserves Lanna New Year Tradition with Songkran Water-Pouring Ceremony Honoring Senior Faculty and College Executives
28 April 2026
International College of Digital Innovation
On 24 April 2026, the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, held its annual traditional Songkran water-pouring ceremony to pay respect to senior faculty members and college executives. The ceremony took place at Room ICB1102, 1st Floor, ICDI Building, with the warm participation of administrators, faculty members, and staff.
The event was organized to preserve the cherished Thai and Lanna cultural traditions associated with Songkran, locally known as “Pi Mai Mueang,” or the Lanna New Year. Held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the ceremony featured the bathing of a Buddha image for auspiciousness, followed by the traditional water-pouring ritual to seek blessings from Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, former Dean and senior faculty member; Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of ICDI; and the college executive team.
On this meaningful occasion, executives and senior faculty members extended their blessings to ICDI staff, offering encouragement, goodwill, and wishes for continued success and prosperity in both their professional duties and personal lives. The activity also reflected ICDI’s commitment to fostering unity among its personnel while helping preserve Thai and Lanna cultural heritage for future generations.
