CMU Signs MOU to Advance Lanna Black Sticky Rice in the High-value Health Food Industry

On August 17, 2026, at the Buaret Khamthong Meeting Room, Office of the University, Assistant Professor Dr. Tanyanuparb Anantana, Vice President, on behalf of the President, delivered welcoming remarks and signed an MOU on ‘Increasing the Value of Lanna Black Sticky Rice with High Nutritional Value for Applications in the Health Food Industry’ alongside Professor Dr. Chanakan Thebault Prom-u-thai, Assistant to the President and Director ad interim of the Lanna Rice Research Centre. The MOU was signed in partnership with Baseline Commons Company Limited, represented by Ms. Jarusatree Souvannavong Dhanvarjor, Managing Director. The signing ceremony was attended by executives and representatives from the Faculties of Agriculture, Pharmacy and Agro-Industry, as well as the Lanna Rice Research Centre. The collaboration aims to promote research and development on Lanna Black Sticky Rice, which is rich in nutrients and unique bioactive compounds, and to develop it as a high-quality raw material for the high-value health food industry. The collaboration will also contribute to strengthening the value chain, from cultivation by local farmers through commercial processing, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Lanna Black Sticky Rice and sustainably increasing income opportunities for local farmers.
