Faculty of Social Sciences, CMU Welcomes Delegation from Sogang University, Republic of Korea

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, welcomed administrators, faculty members, and students from Sogang University, Republic of Korea, on the occasion of their visit to discuss potential academic collaboration and to exchange perspectives on teaching, research, and contemporary social issues.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wasan Panyagaew, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, together with the faculty’s executive team, welcomed Professor Myeon Jeong, Dean of the Faculty of History, Sogang University, along with faculty members, staff, and undergraduate students from Sogang University.

The visit included a meeting to explore future academic cooperation, such as student and faculty exchanges, joint learning activities on regional social issues, and institutional collaboration. These discussions marked an important step toward future cooperation, with preliminary talks underway toward the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wasan Panyagaew delivered a lecture and led an academic discussion on Cross-border Migrant Workers from Myanmar in Chiang Mai, providing a platform for dialogue among faculty members and students from both institutions and highlighting social, economic, and cultural dimensions in a cross-border context.

The visit also offered opportunities for students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, CMU, to engage in exchange activities with students from Sogang University in a friendly and interactive atmosphere fostering cross-cultural learning experiences and strengthening international friendship networks.

This visit represents another important step in expanding the Faculty of Social Sciences’ international academic network and enhancing global learning opportunities for students and scholars
