ECON CMU Presents SDGs Monitoring & Evaluation Unit and Hosts Focus Group to Advance Research and Academic Services for Sustainable Development

On Thursday, 27 August 2026, from 11.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organised a presentation of the SDGs Monitoring & Evaluation Unit, together with a Focus Group on Research and Academic Services.

The initiative aims to develop and provide a system for designing indicators and monitoring and evaluating the performance of local and regional organisations in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The project also seeks to strengthen the capacity of target organisations to undertake strategic planning and implementation towards measurable economic, social, and environmental outcomes. At the same time, it aims to enhance the Faculty's role in place-based policy design and innovation through high-impact academic services that deliver tangible and measurable outcomes at the regional level.

During the programme, Mr Chalermsuk Saenglee, General Administration Officer (Innovator), Policy, Planning and Educational Quality Assurance, presented the SDGs Monitoring & Evaluation Unit, followed by a question-and-answer session that provided participants with an opportunity to discuss the system and its potential applications.

The afternoon session featured a Focus Group on Research and Academic Services, providing a platform for participants to share perspectives and recommendations on the Faculty's current operations and future development in research and academic services.

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Economics continues to strengthen the connection between data, research, academic services, and place-based development, supporting evidence-informed decision-making and measurable outcomes while contributing to sustainable development at both local and regional levels.
