Mr. Sahapol Chootinan, an alumnus of the Media Arts and Design program, has been selected as a grant recipient for the 9th Young Artists Incubation and Networking Project.

EYP9 – Announcement of Grant Recipients

The exhibition department of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) proudly announces the selection of three artists to receive support grants, each worth 100,000 baht, under the Early Years Project #9. This programme, themed “Actions Speak Louder?,” aims to nurture and build networks among emerging artists.

Since 2025, BACC’s exhibition department has invited proposals from emerging artists, ultimately selecting eight participants. Throughout the programme, all artists have engaged in intensive learning to develop their creative processes, while exchanging ideas and collaborating with BACC’s education department, as well as curators, scholars, and professional artists. The artists have now completed their creative journey and are exhibiting their works at Main Exhibition Gallery, 7th floor, BACC from 18 June to 13 September 2026.

We are pleased to announce the names of the three artists who have been awarded the grants of 100,000 baht each:
- Jessada Chan-yaem for the work "Manussosi"
- Porramet Jittaksa for the work “Stella Nova”
- Sahapon Chootinan for the work “LUCKY 39”

We congratulate these three emerging artists on their achievements.

The selection process involved a diverse panel of judges, including Asst. Prof. Wutigorn Kongka an artist, curator, and lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang; Angkrit Ajchariyasophon a visual artist, former independent curator, and co-founder of art spaces: Angkrit Gallery and ARTIST+RUN; Unchalee Anantawat an artist, co-founder of Speedy Grandma, and lecturer in the Communication Design Department at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi; Penwadee Noppaket Manont, Head of Exhibition department/Chief Curator of BACC, along with its Exhibition Team.

Through rigorous critique, dialogue, and the exchange of in-depth perspectives among all committee members, each artwork was carefully evaluated according to a set of criteria designed to assess the artists’ potentiality, relevance, process, criticality, practicality, attitude, and resilience.
1. Potentiality — The ability to demonstrate the artist’s potential as an emerging talent and future professional, reflected through distinctive concepts, practices, and exhibition approaches.
2. Relevance — The ability to articulate connections to contemporary times and phenomena, with artworks serving as reflections of social, behaviour, and thought changes.
3. Process — The ability to demonstrate a creative process that includes research, study, synthesis of information, leading to the development of unique contemporary art.
4. Criticality / Self-Criticality — The ability to think, analyse, and synthesise one’s own creative work, linking ideas to the final piece, while remaining open to both positive and negative public critique.
5. Practicality — The ability to realise each stage of creation in alignment with concept, form, space, time, budget, and systematic, professional work methods.
6. Attitude — The ability to demonstrate commitment and responsibility through active participation in the programme, and through exchange of knowledge, both individually and collectively.
7. Resilience — The ability to adapt and remain flexible in creative practice while collaborating with fellow artists and industry peers through conversations and cooperative activities within Early Years Project #9.

We hope this programme continues to develop skills, enrich experiences, and inspire all participating artists in their future endeavours.
