On 27–28 May 2026, the Language Institute, Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Sakorn Ruanklai, Director of the Language Institute, participated in SEA Unbound in the Republic of Singapore at the invitation of Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP).

SEA Unbound was organized to promote educational collaboration, capacity building, and partnership development across Southeast Asia. The event was officiated by Ms. Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry, who delivered the opening remarks and joined the panel discussion titled “SEA Rising: Where Will the Next Generation Find Opportunity?” alongside leaders from prominent industries and organizations across the region. The discussion explored emerging opportunities and future directions for workforce development in Southeast Asia.

During the event, participants engaged in networking activities with representatives from educational institutions, government agencies, and private-sector organizations from Southeast Asia and China. They also attended presentations on the SEA Unbound initiative, a key strategic program of Ngee Ann Polytechnic aimed at preparing students and staff to thrive in the increasingly interconnected social and professional landscape of Southeast Asia.

Participation in SEA Unbound marks another significant milestone for the Language Institute in expanding its international partnerships, strengthening regional connections, and creating new opportunities for future academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
