MIdS CMU Strengthens EV Workforce Development in the Mekong Region with Training Program in Laos

Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School
Led by Apichart Sophadang, Dean of Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Chiang Mai University, together with the Supply Chain and Engineering Management (SCEM) Research Group, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with the National University of Laos and Electricit? du Laos (EDL), organized the training program:

“Basic Electric Vehicle Maintenance Business”
Held during May 5–6, 2026
Vientiane Capital, Lao People’s Democratic Republic

The program was supported under the 2023 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund through the project: “Prospect Supply Chain for Small Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in Lancang-Mekong Region”

Program Objectives
The training aimed to:
- Enhance knowledge and practical skills in basic EV maintenance
- Develop workforce capacity for entrepreneurs and personnel in the Mekong region
- Support the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) industry at both regional and global levels
- Strengthen academic and technological collaboration between Thailand and Laos

Driving a Low-Carbon Future
This initiative reflects the role of Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Chiang Mai University in integrating interdisciplinary knowledge and fostering international collaboration to:
- Develop future-ready human resources
- Build networks in technology and innovation
- Support the transition toward a low-carbon society and green economy
