ECON CMU Hosts the Third “Econ CMU Next-Gen Work” Workshop, Empowering Staff to Apply Claude AI in Modern Workflows

On 17 September 2026, from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, through its Interest Group – Artificial Intelligence (AI), organised the third “Econ CMU Next-Gen Work: Creating Innovation for the Modern Workplace” workshop, featuring the topic “Claude AI for the Modern Workplace at the Faculty of Economics: An Efficiency-Enhancing Tool for Academic and Professional Staff.”

The workshop was led by Asst. Prof. Chatchai Duangsa-ard, Ph.D., Deputy Director of the Information Technology Service Centre and Chair of the Master’s Programme in Software Engineering, and was held at the Faculty’s Quantitative Analysis Centre.

The programme aimed to strengthen staff members’ knowledge, understanding, and practical skills in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support administrative processes, teaching and learning, and academic work. Through hands-on workshop activities, participants explored how AI can be integrated into everyday workflows to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and save time.

The training also encouraged staff to use AI to design, develop, and improve internal workflows and digital systems, with an emphasis on producing tangible outcomes. Participants were further encouraged to make practical use of their Claude Pro access through a pilot implementation and apply the technology to improve their own work processes.

Through Econ CMU Next-Gen Work, the Faculty continues to develop staff capabilities in the practical application of AI while supporting its transition towards a Data-Driven Organization, where data, technology, and innovation contribute to continuous improvements in organisational performance.
