Faculty of Nursing, CMU Hosts Special Lecture by Lecturer Etsuko Kita from Mie University, Japan.

The Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, hosted a special lecture on "Exploratory Study to Identify Sleep and Autonomic Nervous System Indicators for High-Sensitivity Detection of Depressive States and Suicidal Ideation," delivered by Lecturer Etsuko Kita from the Department of Nursing Science, Graduate School of Medicine, Mie University, Japan. The lecture was attended by faculty members and nursing students from the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, as well as faculty members and students from Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. The event was held at the meeting room on the 5th floor of Building 4 and online on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

The special lecture presented research findings on sleep and autonomic nervous system indicators aimed at identifying highly sensitive markers for detecting depressive states and suicidal ideation. The lecture also highlighted the potential application of physiological data to support more effective screening and monitoring of mental health conditions.
