MIdS CMU Hosts Academic Conference on “Exploring the Science of Lifestyle Medicine”

Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School
Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Chiang Mai University (MIdS CMU), in collaboration with Thai Lifestyle Medicine and Wellbeing Association (TLWA), organized an academic conference titled “Exploring the Science of Lifestyle Medicine” for medical professionals, public and private sector personnel, and interested participants. The event was held from November 7–8, 2025, and was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Apichat Sopadang, Dean of MIdS CMU, who delivered the opening remarks, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jirakrit Leelarungrayub, Assistant Dean, giving the welcome address. The conference took place in Room 2-202, Building 2, MIdS CMU.
The conference featured a series of lectures by distinguished experts under various lifestyle medicine themes:
Day 1 Topics:
“Lifestyle Medicine and the Pillar of Sleep” and “The Pillar of Nutrition” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pansak Sugkraroek,, Advisor to the Thai Lifestyle and Wellness Medicine Association.
“The Pillar of Tobacco Cessation and Reduction of Alcohol and Substance Use” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surinporn Likhitsathian, Associate Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University.
“The Pillar of Physical Activity” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jirakrit Leelarungrayub.
Day 2 Topics:
“The Pillar of Stress Management through Music Therapy and Hydrotherapy” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jakkrit Klaphajone, Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University.
“Positive Psychology and Stress Management” and “Mindfulness for Well-being” by Dr. Tanita Watprasong, Psychologist and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Specialist.
“Social Connection and the Future Pillar of Nature Engagement” by Capt. (Ret.) Dr.Yongyuth Mayalarp, President of the Thai Lifestyle and Wellness Medicine Association.
This conference aimed to promote awareness and inspire sustainable self-care practices among healthcare professionals and the public. It emphasized the value of Lifestyle Medicine as a holistic approach to health promotion, disease prevention, and patient care. Through in-depth knowledge sharing and empathic communication, the event encouraged participants to apply mindfulness and compassionate practices in healthcare, family, and community settings—fostering long-term well-being and supporting Thailand’s goal to become a regional hub for Lifestyle Medicine.
