To strengthen its presence on the international stage, CMU has introduced its ‘Multi-Tiered Architecture for Global Impact’ strategy, designed to transform faculty-level collaboration into a network of world-leading institutions aimed at generating innovative outcomes and sustainability across multiple dimensions. This initiative was named a finalist at THE Awards Asia 2026.
The strategy is built upon four tiers of collaboration:
• One Faculty One MOU (OFOM)
• Seed International Initiatives (SEED)
• Person-to-Organization Partnership (P2O)
• Big Bang Strategic Partnership Initiative (Big Bang)
It systematically integrates the process of revitalizing existing networks while expanding research, innovation and deep collaboration on a global scale.
During the initial stage of implementation, OFOM led to the revival of 49 collaborations across 15 countries following the pandemic, alongside the development of 56 new projects involving 33 partner agencies. Meanwhile, SEED provides initial funding to drive innovation across various fields, leading to new research, curriculum development and tangible collaborations.
Internationally, the P2O project has established partnerships with leading institutions including Imperial College London, ETH Zurich, University of California, Los Angeles, Cornell University and University of Melbourne, resulting in 12 new agreements. Big Bang is a deep-collaboration initiative involving joint funding between CMU and its global partners to co-invest in and develop transformative innovations, such as zero-carbon concrete, cancer treatment technologies and food AI, all of which hold strong potential for generating socio-economic impact.
The implementation of this strategy has resulted in 41 international publications, seven joint programs, and continuous advancements in innovation and international collaboration.
As a result, the initiative became one of CMU’s three finalist projects at THE Awards Asia 2026, underscoring the university’s capacity to strengthen Thailand’s presence within the international community through innovation and strategic partnerships that deliver tangible outcomes.
