Exhibition : ALTERED : SOCIAL MEDIA IMPACT
Social media has become an integral part of everyday life, influencing human communication, behavior, perception, and identity formation. This is particularly evident among Generation Z, who have grown up alongside digital technology. Constant connectivity through smartphones and online platforms has allowed the digital world to gradually permeate their thoughts, emotions, and everyday behaviors.
.
Within algorithm-driven systems and feedback mechanisms such as likes, comments, shares, and notifications, users are continuously encouraged to consume information and interact with digital content. This constant stimulation may lead to excessive screen use, social comparison, the pursuit of validation, and impacts on mental and physical well-being, as well as on the perception of self-worth.
.
In response to these phenomena, this mixed-media art project explores and reflects on the impacts of social media on Generation Z through sculpture, digital media, light, and installation. The distortion and transformation of the human body serve as visual representations of individuals shaped by technology and digital behaviors. The works invite viewers to reflect on and question the relationship between the body, mind, identity, and social media within contemporary society.
