Chaopolis
(Na-khon On-la-maan, Pit-sa-daan Khon-On-la-weng)
Flowers of every kind beam cheerfully, frolicking across a field of vividly neon grass, flirting with the gentle breeze and teasing the brooding, looming storm. A crowd of passing wanderers bustles in a lively tangle, singing aloud as the soundtrack to an afternoon scene, in uproarious chaos as they sketch out a dream metropolis.

The word “city” (Na-khon) may evoke an atmosphere steaming with crowds, each enamored with their own being. Urban life carves out alleyways and funnels routes into main roads, which run on an existence shaped by a wide range of experiences: bustling, chaotic (on-la-maan). This perception becomes scenes of memory, each told as a different tale by something whimsical (pit-sa-daan).

This exhibition builds a space of imagination from those tales, pleated together into a single fabric through the journey of thought within a school building, where these “wanderers” (khon-on-la-weng) reinterpret a familiar space once again. Through their artworks, which act like retellings passed onward, they address issues concerning an individual point or a community within the urban environment.

Chaopolis opens its doors to welcome visitors to explore these hidden meanings through colorful nooks, branching alleys, rooms frozen in time, winding crossroads, and the sounds of everyday objects held in memory, all upon the grand stage of this Chaopolis.
