CMU Agro-Industry Team Wins Top Prize at Rice Business Hackathon with Innovative Rice Business Plan to Uplift Farmers’ Income

The Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr. Sukhuntha Osiriphun, Assistant Professor Wachira Jirarattanarangsi, and Ms. Pattareewan Tantawan from the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University. The team, representing VDTechD Co., Ltd. (Ang Kaew Holding), won the first prize at the Rice Business Hackathon competition.

Their winning business plan centers on the development of innovative value-added rice products and emphasizes collaboration between public and private sectors. The project aims to elevate Thai rice through the use of advanced technology, with a strong focus on enhancing farmers’ income and promoting long-term sustainability.

The event was organized by the Rice Department and held at Maruay Garden Hotel, Bangkok, on August 4, 2025.
