CMU Coordinates with External Agencies to Prepare for CMU Trekking 2026
2 November 2026
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
Chiang Mai University, led by Asst. Prof. Chirawath Phatsara, Dr.Agr., Vice President, together with Assistant to the President Asst. Prof. Benjamas Suksatit (RN, MSN, Dip.APMSN, Ph.D.) , DR. Warissara Kraijitmate, Asst. Prof. Chaiy Rungsiyakull, Ph.D., and the Student Development Division, held a meeting with external agencies to coordinate preparations for CMU Trekking 2026.
The meeting brought together relevant agencies, including Phuping Rajanives Police Station, Doi Suthep–Pui National Park, and the Chiang Mai Area Excise Office, to establish coordinated operational plans focusing on traffic management, public convenience, security, and measures to regulate the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages. These efforts aim to ensure the safety of students, university personnel, participants, and the general public.
CMU Trekking is a longstanding and cherished tradition of Chiang Mai University that fosters unity, strengthens bonds between senior and junior students, and promotes pride in being part of the CMU community. The tradition also encourages cultural preservation, social responsibility, respect for regulations, and environmental awareness through the annual trek to pay homage to Phra That Doi Suthep, a sacred landmark of Chiang Mai.
The meeting emphasized collaboration among the university and relevant agencies to ensure effective traffic management along the route, orderly use of public spaces, convenience for commuters and local residents, accident prevention, and compliance with laws and regulations concerning alcohol.
CMU is committed to organizing CMU Trekking 2026 in a safe, orderly, and responsible manner while minimizing impacts on surrounding communities and preserving this meaningful tradition for future generations. The meeting was held on November 2, 2026, at Buares Khamthong Meeting Room, 5th Floor, University Office Building 2, Chiang Mai University.
